[Video of this waza fast and slow, from the side, and ideally, overhead]

Defense against a downward knife stab or club strike

  • When confronted, remove your belt, and hold it with both hands.
  • 7-3 outside, snapping your belt taut diagonally overhead to block the incoming strike.
  • Step in and trap the opponent’s forearm with you belt, pushing it back.
  • Takedown the opponent with shihō-nage.
