Defense against a one-hand lapel grab
- 7-3 outside with an ude-uke.
- Lapel grabs are typically followed by a reverse punch, like in ice hockey fights. Pay attention to the opponent's opposite-side shoulder to detect any motion;these could be a "tell," indicating when they will strike.
- Execute a same-side makkikomi-shutō to their throat.
