Defense against a pursuit punch
- 7-3 outside with nagashi uke.
- Quickly tenkan behind the opponent and press their shoulders down and towards you, for a takedown.
- For best results, press down with alternating uneven pressure (i.e., go back and forth between pressing hard on the left side and lightly on the right side, then hard on the right and lightly of the left.) This establishes a resonance feedback loop (i.e., a vicious circle) where the opponent’s attempts to reclaim their balance augments the takedown efforts.
- Stomp kick as needed to vital areas.
