Defense against a double lapel grab

  • Knee kick to the opponent’s groin, as an atemi.
  • Press one of the opponent’s elbows down, and twist in that direction. Simultaneously press up on the other elbow for a takedown.
    • This is yoko-nage (literally: “side throw”), which is one of the less-popular aikidō takedowns.
  • Perform a stomp kick or other finishing move.
