Defense against a pursuit punch, front choke, or lapel grab
- 7-3 outside with outside shutō block to deflect the strike or break the hold.
- Grasping block, followed by one of the following:
- Outside arm lever, and incapacitate the opponent with knee kicks.
- Ikkyō-omote, and drag the opponent to the ground.
- Tenkan behind the opponent for an ikkyō-ura takedown.
