Defense against a pursuit punch

  • 7-3 outside, with simultaneous (Kūsankū) same-side nagashi uke and shooting your opposite side arm up and forward (like a spearhand strike) up under the opponent’s chin, to force them up and back.
  • Tenkan behind the opponent, and apply a rear naked strangle.
  • For best results, step back into a back stance, so you do not support the opponent. This effectively hangs the opponent; your arm is a noose, and stepping back kicks the chair out from under them.
